Mickey mouse cake smashout12/28/2023 (Come on…we both know I’m gonna go right on ahead and make the same DUMB mistake again next time.) So, what did I learn from this enlightening experience? And that the one I had planned might have been just a little too “much”. (And I’m pretty sure that’s kind of egomaniac-ish anyway, so yeah…)Īnd THEN, when it came time to make it, I found that I actually really LIKED the design. (DOUBLE phooey.)Īnd once I let the design marinate up in the old noggin’ for a bit, I came to see that it WAS a good design.Īnd just because it didn’t come from MY brain, didn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy it. So I of course did what any self-respecting control freak would do, and I wrote back that I could definitely make the design she was looking for… but that I would LOOOVE to put together a custom design for her if she was up for it!Īnd she politely wrote back that a custom design would be fine.Īnd my rational, engineering-brained husband quietly informed me that SOMETIMES, it’s just best to give somebody what they want.ĭang it, it annoys me when he’s right. My shoulders slumped ever so slightly (#eversodramatically) and a quiet (#notsoquiet) “Phooey!” might have even popped out of my mouth or somethin’. So the moment I saw the email in my inbox, where Calvin’s mama had the design ALREADY laid out…right down to the very placement of the number on top of the cake, Like, I had this cake all KINDS of planned out before I even got the brief, hyper-drive. I had heard it mentioned, earlier on, that the party was to be Mickey Mouse themed, and so the design-loving control center in my brain went into hyper-drive. I’m not gonna lie, when I got the brief for Calvin’s first birthday cake from his mama, a family friend…I was slightly (ok, maybe #notsoslightly) disappointed. Sometimes you just have to give people what they want.
